The Shop
The Windmill Museum contains a small shop which sells maps, books
and souvenirs.
The books cover subjects such as wind and water mills, local history,
the history of the commons, local pubs, highwaymen and ghosts. Souvenirs
include the usual postcards, pencils, badges, mugs etc. but also
cut-out model windmills, the traditional windmill on a stick, Wombles
(local residents in this area) and even tubs of comb honey produced
by bees on Wimbledon Common.
The Café
The café adjoins the car park and is run independently from
the Windmill Museum. It is open every day from about 10 am to 5
pm.* It is famous for its big breakfasts which
are served until lunch time. It has an extensive menu covering everything
from snacks to full meals with seating indoors and outside. You
may bump into a celebrity here because a number of well known actors
live nearby. Formula 1 champion James Hunt was a frequent visitor
and Mick Jagger has been known to drop in. You will also find a
number of husbands evading their wives’ healthy eating regime
tucking into forbidden delights.
The telephone number for the Windmill Tea Room is 020 8788 2910.
